This long-term project has involved considerable pre-emptive works and improvements to the wider site prior to the construction of new laboratories required to assist in the research and drug development for future cancer treatments.
The important nature of the work means that the creation of semi-protected outdoor spaces to encourage informal discussion between researchers has inspired the layout of the new buildings resulting in a linear piazza leading to a grass amphitheatre. The site has been designed and will be managed to enhance its biodiversity including wildflower meadows and a green roof.
