Ruth has over 15 years’ experience working as a landscape architect and throughout this time has gained a wide range of knowledge on a variety of project types including heritage, hotels, public parks and recreation, public realm , schools, hospitals and private gardens. Ruth has successfully taken these projects, from initial concept through to detailed design and implementation.
Ruth joined Portus and Whitton in 2024, having previously spent 10 years in a multi-disciplinary firm, leading the landscape team and overseeing the delivery of landscape projects within the company.
Design quality remains an aspiration on all projects. This is reflected in winning several design competitions including the Landscape Institute competition for a quarry restoration as well as a science park located in the Lake District. She has also won multiple awards for the ‘Bird Box’, a meanwhile public park space that was shortlisted by the Design Council, the Landscape Institute and is featured on Landezine.
